random stuff
🌀 TL;DR: When I’m not wrestling with PyTorch, I run, play the guitar and read books.
Run! 🏃♂️

I could run a marathon before but I can hardly run 10 KMs now. I try to once or twice every week, but these mostly end up being short 5K runs. For a 5K run, I time at 5:30 minutes/KM on average (sorry for the folks following this in the US (read: wrong) system of measurement).
JHU is an amazing place to run in general — the scenery never disappoints!
Read! 📖
Sadly this has turned to reading papers instead of books, but I did boast of a big library at my home in India (my brother has asserted control of all books now that I am in US). See a photo of some of the books I had here (and don’t judge me for my collection of Wimpy Kids - I had a happy childhood).
Current books on my reading list:
- The Dharma of Unfaithful Wives and Faithful Jackals by Wendy Dongier
- Small Missions for Energetic Astrophysics by many authors
- The Power of Babel by Guy Deutscher
- Gödel, Escher, Bach by Douglas Hofstadter
Some all-time favorite books:
- Hyperspace by Michio Kaku
- Flatland by Edwin Abbott
- Surely You’re Joking, Mr. Feynman! by Richard Feynman
Music! 🎸
I play the guitar — I started with the acoustic when I was 10 and I have recently picked up the electric (as all guitarists must do at some stage).
I cannot and won’t work with music in the background and I won’t sleep without music either (others find this irritating).
Here’s my current rock-heavy playlist:
Other Stuff 🧹
I have an obsessive compulsion to keep a clean room and desk (albeit outside my room can be a dumpster).
If my laptop is an inch away from where it is supposed to be, or a wire is seen dangling, rest assured all other tasks will be on hold till I fix it.
